Tiger Aspect adapts video game

Knights & Bikes was created by Rex Crowle and Moo Yu

Endemol Shine-owned UK prodco Tiger Aspect Productions is adapting video game Knights & Bikes as an animated TV series aimed at six- to 12-year-olds.

Tiger Aspect has picked up the rights to Knights & Bikes from game development studio Foam Sword and the publisher of the game’s accompanying book series, Knights Of.

The prodco has previously been behind animated versions of Mr Bean, Charlie & Lola and Aliens Love Underpants and will now work on a series based on the game, which was originally created by Rex Crowle and Moo Yu.

The hand-painted action adventure, set on an island focused on friendship, sees Demelza and her best friend Nessa embark on quests to find legendary treasures and solve ancient mysteries. Equipped with Frisbees, water-balloons and their trusty bikes, the duo are accompanied by their loyal pet goose Captain Honkers.

Crowle said: “The energy, humour and joy that continually bursts out of TV animation was a large inspiration in creating Knights & Bikes, not just in the way it looks, but also in the themes and tone of the game. It’s a fantastically fun new development for us to be working with Tiger Aspect on a Knights & Bikes animated series, and taking things full-circle.”
