This Is Us gets Turkish remake

The new Turkish version of This Is Us will premiere in October

NBC’s break-out family drama series This Is Us is being made available as a format for the first time by 20th Century Fox Television Distribution (TCFTVD), with a deal in Turkey already signed.

Turkish production company Medyapim will produce a local version of the show for Fox Networks Group (FNG) to air on its Fox channel.

The Turkish version will be set in Istanbul covering the same storyline as the first season of the US show, which premiered on NBC in 2016 produced by Rhode Island Ave Productions, Zaftig Films and 20th Century Fox Television.

Dorothy Crompton, VP of format licensing at TCFTVD, will oversee the local adaptation’s production, with the premiere set for this October.

FNG Content Distribution has acquired the distribution rights to the Turkish adaptation and will sell the local version internationally.

TCFTVD said several other format option deals for the series are in the works in major territories.

The original US version is currently in its third season and has received 19 Emmy nominations and two wins so far. It chronicles the story of the Pearson family across several decades.
