The Summit scales new heights as German version created for Prime Video

The Summit follows 12 celebrities as they climb a mountain

Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service has commissioned a German version of Banijay Entertainment format The Summit, marking the eighth international adaptation of the show.

The latest version of the adventure reality format, which was created by Endemol Shine Australia and Nine Network, was unveiled at Prime Video Presents in Germany today.

It will be made available exclusively on Prime Video from the third quarter of this year, with Banijay Productions Germany producing.

The German version will feature 12 celebrities who must climb a mountain peak in New Zealand while carrying backpacks filled with €1m (US$1.1m) – billed as the largest possible cash prize in the history of German reality TV.

The confirmed cast includes actor and singer Felix von Jascheroff, model, actor and DJ Giulia Siegel, model and reality TV star Cecilia Asoro and ex-footballer Ansgar Brinkmann.

To reach the summit and claim their reward, the contestants must overcome a series of physical and moral tests balancing trust and strategy to stay in the game.

Established in 2018, Banijay Productions Germany produces reality shows such as Kampf der Realitystars (RTL2), Mission Unknown: Atlantic (YouTube/Prime Video) and the recently announced Villa of Temptations (Sat.1).
