The Mediapro Studio’s The Famous Five and Real Madrid doc among Euro, Oz sales

Classic Enid Blyton adaptation The Famous Five

MIPCOM: Arte, SBS in Australia, Sky Italia, Spain’s RTVE and SIC in Portugal are among the buyers to have picked up scripted and unscripted titles from Spanish distributor The Mediapro Studio this week in Cannes.

RTVE and SIC have acquired The Famous Five (10×45’), a new take on Enid Blyton’s literary characters co-created by Danish filmmaker Nicolas Wiinding Refn (Drive) and Matthew Read. It is coproduced by Moonage Pictures, byNWR and The Mediapro Studio for the BBC.

Meanwhile, Celeste (6×40’) will launch on Be tv in Belgium, French-German pubcaster Arte, RTS in Switzerland and SBS. Created by Diego San José and coproduced by The Mediapro Studio and Spanish streamer Movistar Plus+, the story centres on a music star and the treasury inspector charged with proving she owes the Spanish government €20m in unpaid taxes.

The distributor has also secured sales for action thriller Hunting Ava Bravo, coproduced by The Mediapro Studio, Top Dead Center Films and Wild Sheep Content. Directed by Gary Auerbach and starring Kate del Castillo, the film will premiere on Paramount+ France and Media4fun Poland.

In unscripted, sports documentary Real Madrid: How Could I Not Love You (6×30’) has been acquired by Sky Italia and Canal+ Africa, while The Mediapro Studio has revealed pending deals in Japan, Turkey, MENA and Cyprus. It is produced by Wakai Media in collaboration with Real Madrid CF.
