The CW rescues FBoy Island after Max axe, orders spin-off FGirl Island

FBoy Island S3 will air on The CW later this year

The CW has revived dating reality series FBoy Island following its cancellation after two seasons by Warner Bros Discovery streamer Max, as well as commissioning spin-off series FGirl Island.

The main series, produced by STXtelevision and created by Elan Gale, will return for its third season as part of The CW’s fall 2023 schedule, with the spin-off premiering in midseason.

Comedian and actress Nikki Glaser (One Night with Nikki Glaser) will host both shows, which are scheduled to shoot back-to-back this summer.

FBoy Island aired for two seasons on Max (fka HBO Max) before it was cancelled in December as the streamer and its parent company axed dozens of projects.

In the format, three women move to a tropical paradise where they’re joined by 26 men – 13 self-proclaimed ‘nice guys’ looking for love and 13 self-proclaimed ‘Fboys’ who are there to compete for a cash prize. The women navigate the dating pool together with the hope of finding a lasting love connection.

The format has also appealed to international buyers, with local versions produced in markets including Sweden, Spain, Holland, Australia and Portugal.

Creator Gale executive produces FBoy Island through his TheYearOfElan Productions banner alongside STXtelevision’s Jason Goldberg, Noah Fogelson and Bob Simonds. Glaser is also an exec producer.

Heather Olander, head of unscripted programming at The CW, said: “With its innovative and modern twist on the reality dating genre, incredibly talented host Nikki Glaser and truly unforgettable title, FBoy Island on The CW is a perfect match.”

“Along with our partners at STXtelevision, we look forward to growing the franchise on The CW with the gender-flipping spin-off FGirl Island and cannot wait to introduce the next generation of FBoys and FGirls to existing fans as well as a new broadcast audience.”
