The CW renews a dozen series early

Walker is The CW’s reboot of the Chuck Norris crime drama

US broadcast network The CW has given early renewals to 12 of its current series, including freshman dramas Walker and Superman & Lois.

Walker, the channel’s new take on Chuck Norris’s 1990s crime drama, has had a second season greenlit for 2021/22 and a further five episodes ordered for the current first season.

Two additional episodes of Superman & Lois have also been commissioned, as well as a second season.

The network has also picked up new runs of All American, Batwoman, Charmed, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Dynasty, The Flash, In The Dark, Nancy Drew, Riverdale and Roswell New Mexico.

The announcements were made by the network’s chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz, who said: “Though we’re just a few weeks into the new season, we wanted to get a strategic head start on next season with these early renewals, which allows our production teams to start laying out story arcs and hiring staff, and at the same time continues to provide us with a strong, stable schedule to build on for next season.”

The launch of the network’s 2020/21 season was delayed until January owing to production delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
