US broadcast network The CW has picked up thriller series Devils as it continues to turn to the acquisitions market to bolster its 2020/21 season.

Based on Guido Maria Brera’s novel I Diavoli, Devils stars Patrick Dempsey and Alessandro Borghi.

The series is produced by Sky Italia and Italian prodco Lux Vide in association with Sky Studios and France’s Orange Studio. It originally aired on Sky Atlantic in Italy and OCS in France. The show is produced by Luca Bernabei and directed by Nick Hurran and Jan Maria Michelini.

Devils revolves around two financial traders who come across a worldwide financial conspiracy after one of them is named as a suspect in a murder investigation.

NBCUniversal Global Distribution is handling international distribution of the series on behalf of Sky Studios.

The acquisition of Devils forms part of The CW’s plans to restructure its fall programming. The network has also acquired DC Universe series Swamp Thing and Canadian drama Coroner to bolster its fall season, with original productions on hold due to the coronavirus lockdown.

Devils will slot into Wednesdays at 20.00 followed by Coroner. Dead Pixels will now move to the summer for its premiere with Two Sentence Horror Stories moving to Sundays and Masters of Illusion continuing its summer Friday primetime run into the autumn. World’s Funniest Animals moves to 21.00 on fall Fridays.
