The CW extends Batwoman, Nancy Drew

Ruby Rose in Batwoman

US broadcast network The CW has given full-season orders to two of its new series, Batwoman and Nancy Drew.

Based on the DC Comics character, Batwoman stars Ruby Rose (Orange is the New Black) as Gotham’s newest hero, who becomes a vigilante to protect the city following Batman’s disappearance.

Nancy Drew, meanwhile, is based on the budding teen detective character created by publisher Edward Stratemeyer in 1930. In the show, Nancy’s college plans are derailed following the sudden death of her mother. While working on her return to college, Nancy becomes embroiled in a murder mystery.

Both shows’ first seasons will now run to 22 episodes. They will be available on The CW’s linear network as well as AVoD service CWTV and The CW app.
