The role marks a return to the youth-skewing network for Jarmon, who was previously an executive director on its development team between 2015 and 2018.

Jarmon most recently served as VP of scripted programming development at The CW, where she developed series such as Batwoman, All American and Walker from 2018.

The exec will report to Jamila Hunter, executive VP of programming and development at Freeform, and begin her role on August 23.

Overseeing Freeform’s scripted series development team, Jarmon will identify new ideas and concepts for scripted series at the network, and supervise creative production on series pilots, as well as the first season of all new scripted series.

Jarmon previously worked on series including The Bold Type, Alone Together and Motherland: Fort Salem during her previous stint at Freeform after the cablenet rebranded from ABC Family.

Jarmon started her television career as part of NBC’s Associates initiative, rising to manager of drama development at the network.

“Julie has a keen understanding of our audience. She has a proven track record for finding unique and captivating stories and understands the importance of authentically reflecting the spirit of the Millennial and Gen Z generation,” said Hunter.
