TGC Global Entertainment signs format alliance with Norwegian broadcaster NRK

Norwegian Beefs focuses on the ‘beefs that regularly break out between internet celebrities

MIPCOM: Los Angeles-based TGC Global Entertainment (TGC GE), the international distribution company launched last year by US format veteran Phil Gurin to represent premium formatted content, has entered a collaboration with Norwegian public broadcaster NRK.

TGC GE has also signed a representation deal with German production company Magis TV, which specialises in developing and producing factual entertainment for the German-speaking market.

Both deals were brokered by Cecilia Ingebrigtsen, TGC GE’s sales & acquisitions agent for Europe and Nordics.

The deal with NRK adds the Nordic territories to TGC GE’s global partnership network, which now spans Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North and South America. Under the agreement, TGC GE will represent NRK’s factual entertainment format Norwegian Beefs (6×25’) starting this week in Cannes.

Norwegian Beefs focuses on the quarrels — or ‘beefs — that regularly break out between internet celebrities.

Elsewhere, primetime competition event Canada’s Ultimate Challenge, now heading into its third season on CBC, has been optioned by Madame Zheng Production – a Leonine company (part of Mediawan) in Germany from TGC.

The 8×60’ show, in which an entire country is transformed into a giant obstacle course, is being shopped as a format at Mipcom under the international title The League of Extraordinary…

Musical party game-show The Singing Bee, meanwhile, is heading to Spain via a deal with Mega TV, while Miracol Media has taken evergreen entertainment format Fridge Wars, for Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Ecuador. The primetime cooking-competition format, originally produced by CBC and The Gurin Company for CBC Canada, has also been acquired by Mediawan for Finland.
