TF1’s The Baker & the Beauty to be first French adaptation of Keshet scripted format

Israeli romantic comedy The Baker & the Beauty

French commercial broadcaster TF1 has commissioned a local-language adaptation of Israeli romantic comedy series The Baker & the Beauty.

To be produced by Banijay France labels Marathon Studio and Terence Films, the 4×52’ series will be known locally as La Belle et Le Boulanger. It marks the first time a Keshet scripted format has been remade in France.

Created by Assi Azar and produced by Endemol Shine Israel for Keshet 12, the drama follows the unlikely romance between an international superstar and a humble baker.

TF1’s adaptation will be directed by Hervé Mimran (A Man in a Hurry) and will star Amir Haddad (Tokyo Nights) and Ludmilla von Claer (L’Apéro). Filming starts in Paris this week and Keshet International (KI) is handling global distribution.

Kelly Wright, KI’s MD of distribution, said: “The Baker & the Beauty is one of those formats with undeniable universal appeal. We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Marathon Studio, Terence Films, TF1 and an A-list cast to bring a French adaptation of this opposites-attract love story to viewers in France.”
