Tello Films’ Baker cooks up new prodco

Romcom Christmas at the Ranch will be released later this year

Christin Baker, the veteran filmmaker behind LGBTQ+ SVoD platform and producer Tello Films, has set up a new production entity for films and series.

Writer, producer and director Baker, who launched Tello Films in 2009, has set up A Baker Production, based in Nashville and LA.

It will specialise in “bigger-name productions” across all genres, while Tello Films will continue to produce LGBTQ+ content for the Tello Films queer streaming network and serve as the companies’ distribution arm, the firm said.

A Baker’s slate of projects in post-production, to be released in late 2021, include the holiday romcom Christmas at the Ranch, starring Lindsay Wagner, and the feature-length documentary A League of Our Own.

Produced in collaboration with Spotlight Productions, the doc celebrates the 30-year legacy of the International Women’s Flag Football Association, which has been using the vehicle of flag football to empower young women from around the world.

It includes interviews with Kelly McGillis (The L Word) and author, journalist, motivational speaker and long-distance swimmer Diana Nayad.

Tello Films’ previous productions include the Emmy-nominated series Secs & Execs, holiday romcom I Hate New Year’s and romantic comedy Season of Love.

Baker said: “I’m very excited to be expanding our breadth of filmmaking with the launch of Baker Films and look forward to making bigger production films and entertaining new audiences in addition to our beloved queer community, which has staunchly supported us since our inception.”
