Televisa, Lionsgate add Latino talent

US studio Lionsgate and Mexican media giant Televisa Group have signed up George Lopez in a bid to bolster their Latino output.

Lopez, an actor, comedian and producer, will work with prodcos Pantelion Films and South Shore to develop both TV shows and feature films.

Lopez is currently developing comedy and action shows with the firms, which are both joint ventures between Lionsgate and Televisa.

Pantelion Films CEO and Televisa USA MD Paul Presburger said: “George is a comic superstar and brand name in the Latino community, and he reflects the kind of A-list Latino film and TV talent we’re recruiting for our Pantelion and South Shore partnerships.”

Lopez is already starring in Saint George (10×90′), which is being produced by Lionsgate for US net FX.
