Televisa, Endemol Shine link on copros

Mexican broadcaster Televisa has struck a far-reaching deal with Endemol Shine Boomdog to coproduce a variety of programmes together.

The Spanish-language prodco, set up by Endemol Shine North America and local prodco Boomdog, will work with Televisa to develop and produce programmes, series and original formats.

The first copro will be drama Hijos del Tigre, which will be released this year, while Endemol Shine Boomdog will also work on a copro basis on scripted series Me Caigo de Risa (Anything Goes), which is into its third season.

The deal extends Televisa and Endemol Shine’s longstanding production relationship, which has seen the companies working together on local remakes of formats such as Big Brother.

Laurens Drillich, president of Endemol Shine Latino, said the Endemol Shine Boomdog team has “several promising new series” in development with the Televisa team.

In related news, Endemol Shine North America is teaming up with American footballer Michael Strahan’s prodco SMAC Entertainment to develop a US version of global gameshow The Money Drop.

The original, known as The Million Pound Drop Live, was created by Endemol Shine UK’s Remarkable Television and has been produced locally in 54 countries including in the UK on Channel 4.

The show requires contestants to answer questions correctly to avoid bundles of cash falling through trapdoors.
