Telemundo exec takes up VIMN role

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) has appointed a Telemundo Networks executive as brand manager and senior VP of programming and production for MTV Latin America.

Maria Iregui will oversee content and creative development for MTV, succeeding Fernando Gaston, who has left the company for personal reasons.

Iregui has been in the TV industry for 16 years and was most recently VP of programming for Telemundo Networks, leading the content and programming strategy for the company’s brand portfolio. She has also worked for Caracol Television as VP of content distribution and VP of marketing.

Gaston is also stepping down as brand manager of VIMN’s US Hispanic network TR3, with Maria Badillo, the channel’s VP of programming and production, taking on his remit on a temporary basis.

Both will report to Sofia Ioannou, MD of VIMN the Americas, who said Iregui’s “market expertise and versatile experience” would “drive sustainable and long-term growth for MTV.”
