Telemundo chief content officer Ronald Day exits after seven years

Ronald Day, president of entertainment and chief content officer at NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, has resigned after seven years at the US Hispanic-focused company.

The executive, who had led programming for the Telemundo network since 2018, announced his departure on Monday, saying it was driven by a desire to “follow a dream.” His last day at Telemundo will be this Thursday.

“Today, I begin writing a new chapter with a book I’ve been working on for months, designed to guide others along the path I have travelled,” Day shared in a message on his social media.

“After that, a speaking tour at universities across the US, Latin America and Spain, as well as engagements with companies worldwide, will bring me closer to my purpose: inspiring and shaping a new generation of executives and entrepreneurs ready to transform history, just as I can proudly say I have done as I close this chapter,” he added.

Day was promoted to his current role in April as part of a restructuring led by NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises chairman Luis Fernández, which included the re-launch of Telemundo Studios, the production arm now led by Javier Pons.

“It is with mixed emotions that I announce the resignation of our president of entertainment and chief content officer, Ronald Day, who has decided to leave the company to pursue new opportunities,” Fernández said in a statement.

To ensure a “smooth transition,” the content team will report to Fernández on an interim basis, he explained.

“Since Ronald joined the company, he has been instrumental in driving Telemundo’s growth, helping us achieve primetime leadership for the first time in our history last year.”

Day joined Telemundo in 2018 as EVP of entertainment, leading the development and production of reality shows such as La casa de los famosos (Big Brother), Los 50, Top Chef VIP and Exatlón, along with specials like Miss Universe and the Billboard Latin Music Awards.

The network’s content strategy for this year aims to build on its successful pillars: adaptations of major international formats, original scripted series and Turkish dramas, along with live content such as news and sports.
