TCB kicks off fifth development day

Kew Media-backed distributor TCB Media Rights is hosting its fifth annual Development Day in London this week.

The invitation-only pitching event will feature indies offering ideas to 35 buyers and commissioners from 15 TV territories. The aim is to fast-track the projects’ development.

Some of the buyers attending this year include Discovery, France’s RMC Decouverte, the UK’s Channel 4 and Australia’s SBS.

All the shows presented have been assessed for distribution potential by TCB founder and CEO Paul Heaney and his team.

“Since its inception, the day has now developed a real head of steam. It offers indies a uniquely intimate platform from which to launch their ideas to key buyers and, with luck, secure the pre-sales needed to fund those projects; and it gives buyers access to fresh, original ideas from the best factual producers in the business before anyone else,” said TCB acquisitions and coproductions executive Nicola Davey.

Some of the most successful shows to come from previous TCB development days include Curve Media’s How Did They Build That?, TCB’s Egypt’s Unexplained Files and Monster Films’ Plane Reclaimers.
