TCB gets Banged Up for Cannes

Banged Up gives a group of teenage UK troublemakers a taste of the US justice system

Kew Media Group-owned distributor TCB Media Rights has acquired a UK unscripted series from BriteSpark Films that follows troubled UK teens as they undergo a tough offender scheme in the US.

Banged Up (3×60′, working title), which airs on Channel 4, follows eight youngsters as they head to Florida where they face a “tough-justice incarceration programme” that has helped to cut reoffending rates.

The series is among a raft of shows from Argonon-owned BriteSpark on TCB Media Rights’ MipTV slate. Others include Massive Engineering Mistakes (10×60′), produced in association with TCB for Science Channel in the US and Quest in the UK.

The series explores an array of construction calamities and was acquired recently by Discovery Science in the US, Discovery and Odisea in Spain, Discovery UK, Viasat for CEE and the Nordics, and Sky TV in New Zealand.

Other shows include UK housing crisis series Nightmare Tenants, Slum Landlords, first produced for Channel 5 in the UK, which has been acquired by RTL Netherlands, and Hey Sonny Films’ The House of Extraordinary People, which aired on the UK network last month. The 3×60′ docuseries, which is also available as a format, sets out to change perceptions of those who look ‘different.’
