Swedish true crime drama Knutby to start filming in February for TV4, C More

Knutby centres on a Christian cult in a small town in Sweden

Sweden’s TV4 and C More have commissioned a six-episode second season of true crime drama Knutby, which depicts events in a Christian cult in a small town in Sweden in the early 2000s.

The second run starts filming on February 28 and will launch in 2024 on TV4 and the broadcaster’s streamer, C More. The series is produced by B-Reel Films, with Petra Ahlin as executive producer at TV4/C More.

The new episodes will continue to follow a girl’s development from an innocent nanny to an unlikely murderer, as parish life in Knutby enters a new phase of brutal oppression and manipulation behind a seemingly happy façade.

Fredrik Agetoft is the screenwriter while Goran Kapetanović, who directed the first season, will also direct the second. The series is coproduced with Film Stockholm and Fifth Season is the international distributor.

“After the great success of the first season, we long to be a fly on the wall in Knutby parish again. Investigating sects and group dynamics makes the series important and relevant,” said Piodor Gustafsson, Nordic drama manager at TV4 and C More.
