Sweden’s TV4 commissions local version of reality format The Box

The Box has already been sold to 10 countries

Swedish broadcaster TV4 has commissioned a local adaptation of reality competition format The Box from Norwegian creator Seefood TV.

Premiering in spring next year, the Swedish version, titled Boxen, will feature civilian contestants rather than celebrities.

In The Box, contestants are placed in separate boxes, without knowing where they are or what to expect. When the doors to the boxes open, they find themselves in the middle of a challenge which they must figure out how to complete.

Season two of the original Norwegian version will debut in Q1 2026 on TV 2, following the premiere of season one in January 2024. The format has been commissioned in 10 countries, including ITV in the UK and TF1 in France.
