Sweden’s C More joins Finland’s MTV Oy, Fire Monkey to carry out Deception

Deception will make its debut on C More

Swedish streamer C More, Finnish broadcaster MTV Oy and Helsinki-based prodco Fire Monkey have started production on a Finnish crime series set to premiere next year.

Deception (Kerma), which will debut on TV4’s sister streaming service C More in the first quarter of 2024, follows a kid from the rough side of town who infiltrates a rich young elite, intending to rob them. When he falls in love with an heiress, he starts to enjoy his new luxurious lifestyle, but his old friends, and creditors, want to see some money.

“Kerma is a story where emotions mess up the perfect crime. Our main character finds himself in a situation where he either has to betray his closest friends or bury his dream of a better life,” said series creator and writer Mikko Pöllä at Fire Monkey.

Founded in 2016, Fire Monkey was behind six-episode sci-fi drama Lumia. Copenhagen-based REInvent will handle Deception’s international distribution.

Deception, which will also appear on MTV Oy, is produced by Saara Kankaanpää. Daniel Virtanen, Marketta Tikkanen, Elias Gould, Pihla Maalismaa and Mikko Kuparinen direct.
