SVT programming supremo defects to TV4

Svante Stockselius, the high profile entertainment director of SVT, has quit Sweden’s public broadcaster to join commercial rival, TV4 as head of acquisitions.

Filling the position left by Tony Mendes, Stockselius will take up the job in June, and will also become a member of the TV4 programme management team.

His previous positions include director of programmes at TV3 and 16 years at Expressen, one of Sweden’s largest daily papers, where he was responsible for news, sport, pictures and entertainment.

Sources in Sweden say Svante had become unhappy with the top management at SVT and was looking for a move into a more commercial environment.
