Sutikki co-founder added to Portfolio

Canadian producer and distributor Portfolio Entertainment has expanded its senior creative team by hiring the co-founder of kids’ entertainment company Sutikki as executive producer.

Irene Weibel will work with the senior creative team at Portfolio’s headquarters in Toronto across its development slate of both animated and live-action properties for children and families.

Reporting to Lisa Olfman, Portfolio CEO and co-founder, Weibel will also assist in supporting the firm’s expansion into primetime and adult animation production and service animation for its Toronto-based studio.

She will serve as an exec producer on a new slate of projects that will be announced soon.

Prior to joining Portfolio, Weibel was an independent producer and entrepreneur, co-founding Sutikki in 2016. During her time at Sutikki, which she left last year, she financed and produced preschool series Moon & Me for UK pubcaster the BBC.

Weibel has also held senior positions at Nelvana Studios and Corus Entertainment. She has exec produced projects including Nelvana and Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania: The Series.
