Sundance Now visits VV James’ Sanctuary and gets Totally Completely Fine

AMC Networks’ streaming platform Sundance Now in the US has commissioned two original drama series for 2023.

Totally Completely Fine is a six-part dark comedy inspired by true events. It follows a 20-something woman who accidentally burns down her brother’s vegan food truck and then inherits her grandfather’s clifftop shack and is tasked with helping people who go too close to the edge.

Produced by Fremantle Australia, the series is being coproduced by Sundance Now and Aussie streamer Stan.

It is created and exec produced by Gretel Vella, who writes alongside Keir Wilkins and Emme Hoy. Lucy Gaffy is directing, with Nat Lindwall exec producing and Alice Willison producing.

The second series, Sanctuary, is a fantasy mystery based on the novel by VV James and set in a small fictional UK town.

When the local golden boy dies in an unexplained accident, accusations of murder start flying. Sanctuary’s resident witch and her daughter are quickly embroiled in a modern-day witch-hunt, as the once close community unravels in a storm of paranoia and suspicion.

AMC Studios is producing in partnership with Monumental Television. Exec producing are James, Debra Hayward, Alison Owen, Alison Carpenter, Karen Richards, Debbie Horsfield and Guymon Casady.

Debbie Horsfield is lead writer, alongside Jess Ruston and Gabbie Asher, while the directors include Lisa Mulcahy and Justin Molotnikov.
