Hunter will lead both the creative and commercial growth of the label, working closely with Global’s CEO Simon Pitts and chief broadcast and content officer James Rea. Hunter will also join Global’s executive committee.

Launched last October, Global Studios is home to a slate of podcasts and vodcasts including The News Agents, My Therapist Ghosted Me and new F1 racing-themed show Up to Speed.

Hunter will also oversee Global’s creative partnerships with The Overlap, following the January deal which saw Global acquire a majority stake in Gary Neville’s sports media company; and creator network The Fella Studios, which was acquired by Global Studios in October.

He joins from Scottish prodco STV Studios, where he served as creative director from 2019. Hunter broadened the label’s output, working across returning brands, fact ent series and documentaries.

Prior to that, Hunter was lead commissioning editor for natural history and specialist factual at the BBC, greenlighting shows such as Blue Planet Live and Inside the Factory.

Pitts said: “I’ve seen firsthand how effectively Craig leads teams and develops new shows into successful, returning brands and I’m excited that he’ll be bringing that same creativity, expertise and ambition to Global.”

Hunter said: “Now feels like the right time for a new challenge and I’m thrilled to be joining Global Studios at such an exciting moment.”
