Broadcasters in Australia and New Zealand have acquired drama series including The Five and Baron Noir from European producer and distributor StudioCanal.

SBS Australia has taken a package of scripted programming including Sky1 drama The Five and the Canal+ shows Section Zéro and Baron Noir, and will premiere them on its VoD service on June 30.

“Gritty crime thrillers like The Five, political dramas like Baron Noir and dark sci-fi series like Section Zéro bring something fresh and exciting to our world drama slate,” said Marshall Heald, director of TV and online content at SBS Australia.

StudioCanal has previously sold dramas including Spotless and The Last Panthers to SBS.

Meanwhile, free-to-air network Prime in New Zealand has acquired The Five, which marked the first foray into original TV series from best-selling author Harlan Coben.
