StudioCanal unleashes Werewolves in Cannes as it pitches boardgame format

Werewolves is based on the game Les Loups-Garous De Thiercelieux

MIPCOM: France’s StudioCanal is here in Cannes this week pitching new entertainment format Werewolves, based on the strategy boardgame Les Loups-Garous De Thiercelieux (The Werewolves of Millers Hollow).

Werewolves (8×40’) is described as a riveting new entertainment format that demands deception, skill and trust.

Created by Presque Prod, JAAD Productions and Franch pay TV broadcaster Canal+, the format has already proved popular in France and worldwide sales began at Mipcom this week.

The Les Loups-Garous De Thiercelieux boardgame has sold seven million units worldwide.

In France, the show was filmed in a forest and remote village specially created for the series.

The format follows 13 players who compete over 13 days. While they all claim to be villagers, three are secretly werewolves and the villagers must rely on deduction to expose the hidden threats.
