Strix opens The Bar in East Europe

DISCOP NEWS: Scandinavian production house Strix Television is enjoying an East European run on its interactive reality format The Bar, with first season deals struck with three networks in the region.

License agreements for local productions of The Bar have been closed in Croatia (Nova TV), Georgia (Rustavi 2), and Slovenia (Pop TV), in time for the Discop market in Budapest this week. The series will be launched in fall 2005, marking the 50th territories for the format since it launched in 2000.

Elsewhere, Strix is planning a “long-term” move into the increasingly reality-hungry market of India, where networks like Star TV and Zee are shipping in hot formats from the likes of Endemol, FBC and Distraction. The first step on Strix road to Mumbai sees Indian production house GreyCell has picking up an option on The Bar.
