Story Syndicate docuseries to investigate Natalee Holloway case for Netflix

Natalee Holloway and her mother Beth

Netflix has ordered a documentary series examining the mysterious disappearance of US high school graduate Natalee Holloway in 2005.

Produced by Story Syndicate, whose credits include Harry & Meghan and Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer, the as-yet unnamed three-parter sees Holloway’s mother, Beth, talk about the case some 20 years after her daughter vanished.

Holloway disappeared in May 2005 while on vacation on the island of Aruba in the Caribbean with a group of school friends following graduation. In the years since, Dutch national Joran van der Sloot has given several conflicting statements about his involvement in her disappearance, including confessing to killing her.

The island-wide search was officially concluded in 2023. Holloway was declared legally dead in 2012 at her father’s request, according to Wikipedia, although her remains have never been found.

The project is directed by Dani Sloane (The Menendez Brothers, Girl in the Picture) and Matthew Galkin (Murder in Big Horn, One Night In Idaho: The College Murders) and executive produced by Liz Garbus, Dan Cogan, Jon Bardin, Dani Sloane and Tommy Coriale.
