Lionsgate-owned US cablenet Starz has teamed up with UK commercially funded pubcaster Channel 4 and Roast Beef Productions to coproduce documentary Ghislaine Maxwell: Life on Trial.

Directed by Erica Gornall (Saudi Women’s Driving School), the 2×60’ doc will follow Maxwell’s trajectory from a privileged childhood in Oxford to the elite worlds of London and New York, to her descent into the Brooklyn State Penitentiary, as well as her trial in the US this autumn.

The two-parter has also been picked up by HBO in Latin American and Network Ten in Australia. This adds to deals concluded throughout Europe as DR (Denmark), NRK (Norway), SVT (Sweden) and VRT (Flemish Belgium) acquire the two-parter from distributor All3Media International.

Sally Habbershaw, executive VP of the Americas at All3Media International, which handles the international rights, said: “Set to be must-see viewing around the world, Ghislaine Maxwell: Life on Trial is one of our most in-demand documentaries right now, and we are delighted to mark our coproduction partnership in the US.

“Starz is the perfect home and partner for this premium special, ensuring that US audiences can witness this gripping, evolving and in-depth insight into the woman at the centre of one of the world’s biggest scandals.”
