A pair of series from the Star Trek franchise, Strange New Worlds and animated kids’ series Lower Decks, have earned renewals at streamer Paramount+.

The shows were renewed for their third and fifth seasons, respectively, with both receiving orders for 10 new episodes.

Both are already set to premiere new seasons this summer, with Strange New Worlds returning for its second instalment on June 15 on Paramount+ in the US, UK, Australia, Latin America, Brazil, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, and Lower Decks returning for its fourth season in late summer on Paramount+ in the US.

The renewals come one month after it was revealed that Star Trek: Discovery, the original show in the franchise reboot, will end with its fifth season, set to debut in early 2024. As well, Star Trek: Picard is in the middle of its third and final season.

Strange New Worlds is produced by CBS Studios, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment, while Lower Decks is produced by CBS Studios’ Eye Animation Productions, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment.

Another animated series in the franchise, Star Trek: Prodigy, will return for its second season this winter. The show is produced by Nickelodeon and CBS Studios’ Eye Animation Productions.
