SPT, Amazon Studios comedy The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh ordered at Freevee

Amazon’s AVoD platform Freevee has commissioned The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh, a half-hour comedy inspired by the life of writer-producer Vijal Patel.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios, the eight-part series will star Naveen Andrews (The Dropout, Lost), Sindhu Vee (Starstruck), and Megan Hilty (Smash, Patsy & Loretta).

Patel will serve as showrunner and executive producer on the project, which follows the Pradeep family during their first few months after moving from India to America.

Executive producing alongside Patel are Sara Gilbert, Mandy Summers and Tom Werner. The pilot will be directed by Michael Showalter, who is also exec producing through his Semi-Formal Productions banner.

“The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh shines a comedic light on the centuries-old, universally relatable first-generation experience,” said Lauren Anderson, head of AVoD original content and programming at Amazon Studios.
