Sphere Abacus picks up five true crime series ahead of London screenings

Peninsula Television’s A Perfect Scam for Crime & Investigation

Bell Media-backed UK distributor Sphere Abacus has added five true crime series to its slate in the run-up to the London Screenings this month.

Skegness Psycho: 28 Miles to Murder (2×60’) is produced by UK indie FirstLookTV for Crime & Investigation. The two-parter tells the story of mother-of-two Bethany Vincent who started a relationship with Daniel Boulton having no idea of his violent past.

A Perfect Scam and Check-In To Murder (both 10×60’) have been produced for Crime & Investigation by Peninsula Television. A Perfect Scam unearths the stories of victims who have fallen prey to sophisticated scams, exposing the emotional, financial and sometimes fatal consequences. Check-In To Murder explores true crimes that have shaken British communities, taking place in quaint guesthouses, charming seaside cottages and B&Bs.

Look What You Made Me Do (10×60’) and Police Pursuits (12×60’) are produced by Law & Crime Productions for the Law & Crime channel. The former dives into true stories of jealousy, rage and betrayal that spiral into acts of violence, while the latter follows high-speed chases, getaways and takedowns, with real pursuits caught on camera.

Sphere Abacus MD Jonathan Ford said: “It has been said that True Crime programming continues to soar in popularity around the world because it tells real stories about real people, making it even more captivating and intriguing than fiction. This view is confirmed by these five series from some of the world’s premiere factual producers, and by the 1,600 hours of crime series Sphere Abacus has sold in the last 12 months.”
