Spalding exits FremantleMedia

Simon Spalding (pictured) has left his post as FremantleMedia’s regional CEO for Europe and the Asia Pacific, amid a reshuffle at company’s offices for both regions.

The RTL Group-owned global production house explained the restructure by saying it wanted to “redirect its focus” in the two regions.

Consequently, Monica Galer, CEO for Northern and Southern Europe, and Daniela Matei, CEO of the Nordic region, Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans, will both now report to Gary Carter, FremantleMedia’s chief operating officer.

Ian Hogg, who was recently promoted to CEO for Asia Pacific, will now report to FremantleMedia’s CEO Tony Cohen.

Cohen said: “This new structure will better enable FremantleMedia to continue developing our business in Europe and Asia Pacific. Simon Spalding has played a significant role in structuring, building and expanding our businesses in these regions over the last six years.”

Spalding was instrumental in setting up FremantleMedia’s licensing division 10 years ago and has since overseen growth in Australia, India and China and acquisitions in Italy, the Netherlands and Denmark.

In March, FremantleMedia Asia CEO Patrick Schult announced he was to leave the company after 24 years to “pursue new interests,” prompting Hogg’s appointment earlier this week.
