Spain’s The Mediapro Studio promotes Marta Ezpeleta to CEO

Spain’s The Mediapro Studio has promoted Marta Ezpeleta to CEO, replacing Laura Fernández Espeso who was previously promoted to CEO of the prodco’s parent company Grup Mediapro.

Both Ezpeleta and Fernández Espeso will take on their new roles from January 1, 2025. Javier Esteban is also promoted into Ezpeleta’s current role of international director of The Mediapro Studio.

Ezpeleta joined the Grup Mediapro subsidiary in 2019 as director of international distribution and coproductions, striking deals for Spanish-language shows including The Head, Paraíso, Express and Vote for Juan.

In 2021, she took on additional responsibilities of managing the studio’s international offices, helping to cement international operations in the US, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Portugal, the UK and Uruguay.

Ezpeleta began her career in 1998 as a member of the content and programming team at The Walt Disney Company, where she was involved in the launch of Disney’s TV channels in Spain and Portugal.

She remained at the company for 20 years, becoming general manager of distribution for the Iberian peninsula, where since 2014 she has spearheaded marketing content produced by Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucas and ABC Studios, as well as the company’s TV channels and on-demand services.

Esteban joined The Mediapro Studio in 2019, as part of the distribution, coproduction and acquisitions team, working on international strategy and heading up sales for the US, Latin America, the UK, Asia and Spain.

He began his career in the audiovisual sector at Vocento Group, before joining The Walt Disney Company in 2010, where he co-ordinated the distribution and marketing of the group’s pay TV channels, content and digital on-demand services for Spain and Portugal.

During his time at Disney, Esteban also co-ordinated the launch of the company’s first subscription service in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
