Spain’s RTVE takes UK factual duo as DCD Rights secures sales around Europe

Treasures with Bettany Hughes

Spanish pubcaster RTVE has acquired UK factual shows Treasures with Bettany Hughes and Secrets of the London Underground.

RTVE has acquired the second season of Treasures with Bettany Hughes, which was originally produced by Sandstone Global Productions for BBC World News. The show follows historian Hughes as she examines some of civilisation’s greatest treasures.

Secrets of the London Underground, meanwhile, was produced by Bob Brown Productions for UKTV’s history network Yesterday.

The deal was announced by DCD Rights as part a raft of sales the UK distributor has made in the wake of MipTV.

Elsewhere, French network M6 has taken a 48-hour VoD package of cookery shows, as well as 21st Century Serial Killer (by FirstLookTV and DCD Rights) and Haunted Encounters.

Also in France, RMC Decouverte has picked up Aussie Gold Hunters S8 (Electric Pictures for Discovery) and Aussie Gold Hunters: Mine SOS.

In Germany, Sky has secured a 93-hour package comprising the Coast Guard franchise (Al Roker Entertainment) and Disasters Engineered (Dash Pictures, Intermission Film, DCD Rights); GEO Television has bought Deception World War II (Wildbear Entertainment in association with Viasat History) and Treasures with Bettany Hughes S2; and Seven. One Entertainment Group has bought Aussie Gold Hunters S7.

Finally, Discovery Spain has taken Secret Nazi Bases S3 (Go Button Media, DCD Rights) and Gibraltar TV has acquired a 26-hour package including such titles as Secrets of the London Underground S1 and World’s Greatest Ships S1&2 (Windfall Films).
