Spain’s Atresmedia gets into The Box with Fremantle version of Seafood TV format

The Box has been renewed for a second season by Norway’s TV2

Atresmedia has greenlit a Spanish version of The Box, the Norwegian competition reality show from Seafood TV that premiered this year, from Fremantle.

Following its debut in January on Norway’s TV2, The Box has become one of the breakout formats of the year, with versions already launched in Denmark (TV2) and Finland (Nelonen) and others underway on ITV1 in the UK, TF1 in France, RTL4 in the Netherlands and TV4 in Sweden.

In Norway, TV2 renewed it for a second season after it became the channel’s most-watched premiere.

In The Box, 12 celebrities are locked in individual boxes, not knowing where they’re going or what awaits them. In each episode of the show, when the doors open, they find themselves in the middle of an unexpected challenge that they must understand and solve without prior instructions, clues or context. While this happens, everyone lives together in a base where alliances and rivalries are forged.

The Box joins other major international formats adapted by Atresmedia, such as Masked Singer, The 1% Club, The Traitors and The Voice.
