Spain, India taken in by All3’s Liar

Liar was created for ITV in the UK and US cablenet AMC

Spain’s Atresmedia Studios and India’s Bodhi Tree Productions are the latest producers to acquire the rights to adapt UK thriller series Liar.

The format, from writers Harry and Jack Williams (The Missing), has already been adapted for Canale 5 in Italy.

Originally produced by Two Brothers Pictures for ITV in the UK and AMC in the US, in association with All3Media International, Liar is a tale of consent, modern-day gender politics, family life and deceit.

In Spain, Atresmedia’s in-house production company, Atresmedia Studios, will produce a six-part series filmed in Madrid and Majorca which will debut on Antena 3.

A Hindi version of the show, titled Marzi and also running to six hour-long episodes, has been produced by Bodhi Tree Productions for VOOT, Viacom 18’s OTT service in India.

Prodco Indigo Films produced the italian version, titled Non Mentire, which aired earlier this year and is available as 6×60’ or 3×120’ episodes. Distribution rights to Non Mentire outside Italy are managed by All3Media International.
