South Korea’s CJ ENM seeking contestants for international K-pop competition format

Zerobaseone, winners of 2023 music-themed format Boys Planet

South Korean entertainment company CJ ENM is seeking members for two new global K-pop boy bands as part of musical competition format Boys II Planet.

Set to air in the second half of 2025 on music channel Mnet, the makers claim the format will be the first-ever ‘global twin’ project to form two brand new groups for two different languages and regions.

The two shows are named Boys II Planet K, and Boys II Planet C, to be produced in the Korean and Chinese languages, respectively. Contestants must have been born before January 1, 2012, and can be of any nationality.

Auditions for the Chinese version will be held in February and March in eight locations across Asia: Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Selangor, Taipei, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Kong. The South Korean casting will be held in Singapore on February 28.

Both sets of auditions hope to unveil ordinary people with vocal, rap or dance skills. If successful, they will be recruited to the main show, where they’ll get the chance to hone their skills and train to become K-pop stars.

Each show will produce a separate group, with both outfits working together on certain projects. Boys II Planet is the sequel to the 2023 music-themed format Boys Planet, which led to the formation of K-pop band Zerobaseone.

CJ ENM is the company behind multiple hit formats such as I Can See Your Voice, Genius Game and Youn’s Kitchen.
