Sony’s Game Show Network to adapt STV Studios quizshow format Bridge of Lies

Sony Television Pictures-owned US cable channel Game Show Network (GSN) has commissioned a trio of new titles including an adaptation of UK quizshow format Bridge of Lies.

Cameron Mathison will host Beat the Bridge

GSN handed a 100-episode order to the US adaptation, titled Beat the Bridge, with the channel’s production arm Game Show Enterprises Studios producing and actor and presenter Cameron Mathison (General Hospital) hosting.

Scotland’s STV Studios, which produces the UK original for BBC One, brokered the US deal and has retained the format sales rights in the US and Australia. BBC Studios Distribution handles format sales outside those territories.

The format sees players cross an enormous interactive bridge by answering trivia questions for a chance to put money in the bank for their team.

The US version is being executive produced by Ed Egan and co-executive producer Sabrina Hybel Snow, with Josephine Brassey, Gary Chippington and David Mortimer exec producing for STV Studios.

GSN also commissioned a revival of Tic Tac Dough, the classic gameshow based on noughts and crosses, with Brooke Burns hosting. Game Show Enterprises Studios is producing the show with Village Roadshow Television serving as the studio.

Rane Laymance is an executive producer and Sabrina Hybel Snow a co-executive producer on the project, among others.

As announced last week, GSN also commissioned Flip Side, a syndicated gameshow hosted by Jaleel White.

Produced by Game Show Enterprises Studios for CBS Media Ventures, the show will debut in syndication across the US before airing in a second run on GSN. The show counts Jay James, Corin Nelson and Rich Sirop among its executive producers.

In related news, BBC One is lining up a Saturday access primetime version of the daytime hit Bridge of Lies, with Celebrity Bridge of Lies starting this weekend, produced by STV Studios. The non-celeb Bridge of Lies continues on BBC One weekdays at 16.30.
