Sony primes True Crime

Deadly Women

Deadly Women will feature on True Crime

Sony Pictures Television (SPT) is launching a UK channel that will show back-to-back crime-related programming.

True Crime will roll out from Tuesday March 22 and is billed as the Freeview platform’s only dedicated crime channel. Its schedule will include Deadly Women, Crime 360, The Devil You Know and The 9/11 Faker. Caught on Camera, Dog the Bounty Hunter and Paternity Court also feature in its line-up.

Factual crime programming is a hot genre at the moment, following the success of The Jinx on HBO last year and more recently Making a Murderer on Netflix.

Kate Marsh, executive VP of Western Europe for SPT, said: “True Crime will be a dedicated crime channel, where viewers who are fascinated by true-life stories will be able to have everything in one place. The channel further builds on the success of our Freeview channel portfolio and marks our commitment to the UK television market.”

True Crime will sit alongside True Entertainment (and +1), True Movies 1, True Movies 2 and True Drama. SPT’s worldwide networks portfolio includes 150 channel feeds available in 178 countries, reaching more than 1.3 billion cumulative households worldwide.

The channel will be available on Freeview channel 60, Sky channel 185 and Freesat channel 143.
