Sony, Polsat order Endemol Shine drama

Julia Kijowska stars in The Crack

Sony Pictures Television Networks Central Europe and Polish free-to-air channel Polsat have commissioned a crime drama from Endemol Shine Poland.

The Crack combines crime drama with psychological thriller and is an adaptation of the bestselling novel of the same name and its sequel The Pact by Igor Brejdygant.

The main protagonist in The Crack (known in Polish as Rysa) is Monika Brzozowska, a policewoman with a troubled past who works within the homicide department in Warsaw. As she investigates a series of murders, she starts encountering clues leading to herself.

Ryszard Sibilski, MD of Endemol Shine Poland, said: “This riveting crime series based on the bestselling novel The Crack will invite viewers into the dark world of deals, dependencies and secrets. Sony Pictures and Polsat are the ideal partners to bring this drama to the market and we are thrilled to already be filming with the stellar cast in Warsaw and Gdynia.”

The cast includes Polish actors Julia Kijowska (Humble Servants, United States of Love, Traffic Department), who plays Monika, and Maciej Zakościelny (Squadron 303, Diagnoza, Time of Honor).

Maciej Migas (Life Must Go On, Ode to Joy), Łukasz Kośmicki (Ultraviolet, The Coldest Game) and Leszek Dawid (The Woods, You are God) will direct.

Endemol Shine Poland’s previous scripted productions include last year’s family saga Our Century, based on the bestselling novel by Ałbena Grabowska, which was recently ordered for a third run by public broadcaster TVP1.
