Sony Pictures Television strikes production and distribution deal with Circle Circle Films

Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has signed an exclusive deal with director Matt Smith’s Brighton based outfit Circle Circle Films.

The agreement will see SPT’s international production division co-develop, coproduce and distribute titles on Circle Circle’s slate.

It will also enable Circle Circle Films to build out its core creative team and produce content for global audiences.

Circle Circle Films, created in 2018, is a creative studio specialising in high-end factual TV, premium sports, music and entertainment singles and series, as well as unscripted content.

BAFTA award-winning director Smith is best known for his BBC film Rio Ferdinand: Being Mum and Dad.

Circle Circle’s other works include: the true crime box set The Other Mrs Jordan, which recently launched on ITVX, telling the true story of bigamist, fraudster and conman William Jordan; and feature documentaries Rooney and Rio Ferdinand’s Tipping Point for Amazon.
