Sony-backed Whisper appoints Jemma Goba as digital, branded head

Sony-backed UK sports and unscripted producer Whisper has hired Jemma Goba as head of branded and digital.

Jemma Goba

Goba will lead the UK prodco’s branded content team, working with clients such as UBS, Red Bull, Barclays and Manchester City. She will also be tasked with driving digital growth, while overseeing a digital team of over 25 staff.

Goba joins Whisper from Tanami, a branded production company she co-founded in 2013 and sold in 2017, staying on as managing partner and taking a place on the board of The Leith Agency. Tanami created advertising content for clients such as Scottish Rugby, The Macallan, IHG and Brand Scotland.

Prior to launching Tanami, Goba worked at McCann, the BBC, Maverick Television and North One Television and was involved in programmes including Countryfile, The Gadget Show and To Buy or Not to Buy.

Sunil Patel, Whisper CEO, said: “Jemma is bursting with creative ideas and is driven to make impact by maximising brand identity, which fits well with Whisper and the growth of our branded and digital teams. Her proven track record in branded production, as well as managing large teams, means she will be a hugely valuable addition to the team.”

Whisper was founded in 2010 by broadcaster Jake Humphrey, producer Sunil Patel and former F1 driver David Coulthard. Sony Pictures Television took a minority stake in the company in 2020.
