Solange Attwood’s Serial Maven Studios merges with fellow Canuck outfit Cantina Media
Serial Maven Studios, the unscripted studio set up by former Blue Ant Media exec Solange Attwood last year, is merging with fellow Canadian company Cantina Media.

The latter was founded last year by former Blue Ant execs Michael Kot and Betty Orr, who previously ran Saloon Media.
Both companies will continue to operate under their existing names, with Cantina Media becoming a production label within Serial Maven Studios.
Serial Maven said the merger represents a “significant step in establishing a truly independent, globally focused production and distribution business” and that the combined entity will deliver a slate of more than 350 hours of unscripted programming across multiple genres.
Serial Maven was officially launched by Attwood and Asha Daniere in January 2024, with Julie Chang joining as chief operating officer and exec producer later in the year.
“This merger underscores our optimism and forward-thinking drive to tell stories with global relevance,” said Serial Maven CEO Attwood, who previously spent around 10 years leading Blue Ant’s distribution business.

Michael Kot
“By combining the creative and production expertise of our production label Cantina Media with our global financing and distribution capabilities, we are positioned to deliver even greater value to our platform partners and audiences worldwide.”
During their time at Saloon Media, which was acquired by Blue Ant in 2018, Kot and Orr worked on projects including Canada’s Drag Race (Crave), Hoarders (A&E), Ted Bundy: Falling for a Killer (Amazon Prime), Life Below Zero (National Geographic & Cottage Life) and See No Evil (Discovery ID).
Kot added: “We’re building a flexible and adaptive company that is uniquely positioned for an ever-evolving media landscape. Our merger embraces the new market and audiences with innovation, efficiency, and reach.”
