Soho Studios hires Georgia Wagstaff as senior VP of development

Glasgow- and London-based indie Soho Studios Entertainment has completed its first senior hire in the form of development specialist Georgia Wagstaff.

Georgia Wagstaff

Reporting to chief creative officer and Soho Studios founder, Ian Lamarra, Wagstaff will be responsible for creating premium international ideas around key talent and building a team of developers to work with her.

Wagstaff will work with key agents, talent and distributors to package ideas for targeted buyers across the globe.

Lamarra and Wagstaff have been frequent collaborators over the past nine years and across several companies including Zodiak Media Group, Alaska and at the Edinburgh Television Festival.

Soho was launched in 2022 by Lamarra, alongside co-founding directors Paul Sandler and Francis Ridley, and recently received investment from Asylum Entertainment Group, part of Endeavor’s unscripted content group.

Recent credits include Travels with Agatha with Sir David Suchet for Channel 4, BritBox North America and SBS Australia and Is It A Bird?, a stand up special starring Jordan Gray, which has been acquired by Channel 4.

Wagstaff said: “I can’t wait to get out there and start bringing the brilliant ideas we have on our slate to market, and building upon Soho Studios’ initial successes. Unusual projects with big talent are always exciting, but especially so when such a great team is involved. It’s a potent time to be working in a global-facing company, and I’ll be looking internationally as well as locally for the best talent and great ideas.”

Lamarra added: “I’m very happy to be working with Georgia again, she is the very best with high profile talent and identifying the most impressive new talent coming through. Georgia’s appointment will really help supercharge our growth across UK, US and beyond as we aim to become the go-to studio for the most interesting talent to bring their ideas and passions.”
