Snowman takes DR to Meat the Family

Meat the Family will air as The Food Moves In on DR1

Danish public broadcaster DR has commissioned a local version of the Meat the Family format from Red Arrow-owned Snowman Productions.

The original was commissioned by commercially funded UK pubcaster Channel 4 and produced by London-based indie Spun Gold TV. Red Arrow Studios International shops the finished tape and format.

Titled Maden flytter ind (The Food Moves In), the 3×60’ series premieres on DR1 today.

Meat the Family is a social experiment that asks how much we really know about the animals we consume by inviting meat-loving families to share their homes with the animals they would normally serve up for dinner.

Three weeks later, the families must decide whether to give up meat and send their animals to a sanctuary, or have them slaughtered and eat their former house guests.

Snowman recently produced new adventure format Klædt af mod toppen med familien Wozniacki for Discovery Network Denmark. Red Arrow Studios International launched the format to international buyers at Mipcom Online+ in October, titled How to Become Superhuman.

Other Snowman credits include Buying Blind and Kiss Bang Love (TV3 Denmark); A League of Their Own (Kanal 5); and comedy Menneskekender (TV2 Zulu, internationally titled How Dare You!). The company also launched its own international format development label, Snowman Global, last year.
