Snapchat seals Vertical series

Snapchat has greenlit production on two original series for its Discover platform from LA-based mobile-first studio Vertical Networks.

Yes Theory will debut on Snapchat at the end of June and follows four best friends from four different countries who travel the world seeking discomfort in the hope of personal growth.

Endemol Shine North America is serving as a creative consultant on the show and is working with Vertical Networks to take the format to linear television.

Also launching this summer is Without Limits, which follows 23-year-old Jeremiah Davis and friends on nerve-racking journeys to capture footage from some of the world’s most thrilling and hard-to-reach places.

The orders follow the launch of Phone Swap, Vertical Networks’ first show for the Snapchat platform, which sees two strangers on a date gain access to each other’s phones. It airs each Friday on Snapchat.

Vertical Networks was set up by ex-Shine chief Elisabeth Murdoch in 2015 to produce daily shortform video content for 18- to 25-year-olds via social media services.

Its Brother service was the first original channel to launch on Snapchat Discover, with content featuring a range of video- and text-based publishing, homegrown formats and talent aimed at the millennial male audience.
