Slovakia’s TV JOJ works on adaptation of Canadian drama Too Much Love

Too Much Love debuted on Quebecois streamer Noovo
CONTENT BUDAPEST: Slovakia-based commercial broadcaster TV JOJ is developing a local version of Canadian relationships drama Too Much Love (L’homme qui aimait trop), distributor Keshet International (KI) announced ahead of this week’s Content Budapest.
The 8×60’ Slovakian remake of the show, which was originally carried by Quebecois streamer Noovo, will be produced by Piknik Pictures (Traffic Light) and shooting begins later this year ahead of a 2024 premiere.
In the original series, a sales representative, played by Patrice Godin, has a serious car accident. As he lies in a coma in hospital, it becomes clear he has been secretly juggling two wives and a mistress.
“Too Much Love is the perfect example of a modern drama that opens subjects that are considered taboo,” said Marcel Grega, CEO of TV JOJ. “I’m convinced that this very current story with an A-list cast attached will be a must-see TV event for viewers.”
KI also announced several other sales it has closed in Central and Eastern Europe, including a multi-territory deal with Canal+ for two dramas.
German comedy You Don’t Die Amongst Friends (Unter Freunden Stirbt Man Nicht), an adaptation of the Israeli original Stockholm (Keshet Tresor Fiction for Vox) will now stream on Hungary’s Direct One, Romania’s Focus Sat, plus Canal+ VOD in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
Meanwhile, 6×60’ period drama Cuba Libre (Hop! Films for RTP in Portugal) has also been picked up by Canal+ VOD in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
Season one of 8×60’ crime drama series Line in the Sand (Koda Communications for Keshet 12), has been licensed in Poland by Canal+ Polska for its Ale Kino+ channel and OTT service Canal+ Online.
Finally, KI has sold 13×60’ thriller The Brave (Universal Television and Keshet Studios for NBC), to Latvian free TV channel TV3.
