SkyShowtime bolsters Swedish originals with crime drama National Homicide Unit

National Homicide Unit is based on the work of a real police group

Pan-European streamer SkyShowtime has unveiled new Swedish original crime drama working titled National Homicide Unit and inspired by a real-life group of elite murder investigators.

The eight-part series is being produced by Warner Bros International Television Production Sweden in coproduction with SkyShowtime, TV4, Film i Skåne, Film i Dalarna and Filmpool Nord.

Starring Pernilla August (Blackwater), Jonas Karlsson (Beck), Nina Zanjani (Hamilton) and Alexander Abdallah (Easy Money), National Homicide Unit is based on the work of the Riksmord unit, a group of detectives ready to be deployed nationwide wherever their expertise is needed.

Each investigation spans two episodes and is filmed in locations around Sweden including Helsingborg, Höganäs, Luleå and Borlänge.

The show is the latest addition to SkyShowtime’s line-up of original titles, which includes crime thriller Veronika, dramedy Where the Sun Always Shines and the upcoming The Trio.
